The Pergola, by definition is; (First used in 1645 - Latin pergula) projecting roof, arbor. A pergola, arbor or arbour is a garden feature forming a shaded walkway, passageway or sitting area of vertical posts or pillars that usually support cross-beams and a sturdy open lattice, often upon which woody vines are trained. As a type of gazebo, it may also be an extension of a building, or serve as protection for an open terrace or a link between pavilions. The origin of the word is the Late Latin pergula, referring to a projecting eave.
Okay, now you understand about as much as the rest of us do concerning this project. This pergola was constructed as a free standing accent article of decoration for the backyard of a residence which already contained the perfect rolling tundra lawn and swimming pool complete with rock water fall. This pergola concept began simply as an idea which matured into a physical entity. The overall construction and completion process contained all of the “Three - E” concepts; “Education, Entertainment and Information”.
